There is an old and incontravenible universal law which basically says that to get you must first give or  that all great fortunes are built by giving what you have to offer and not by just taking.

Consider “facebook” as an example, the creators of facebook are now billionaires yet they gave their product “facebook” away to anyone who wanted it for free.

Apple also put huge efforts without any reward or guarantee of gain into their products prior to launch.

This brings me to spammers and while I understand that all spam is driven by Google’s nonsensical notion of using backlinks as a gauge of a websites worth, the reality is that when a spammer hits one of my many blogs they come bearing no gift with only the intention of aiding themselves and their quest for internet pennies.

My real pet hate in this is that I failed to uncheck a box or two when setting up my wordpress blogs and hence my yahoo in-box is daily filled with notifications of posted comments awaiting moderation, a moderation which will never come I should add.

Then there is the track-back version of spam which takes the liberty of moderating itself, removing me from the equation and appearing on my website as if I had approved it myself.

I had previously taken the perspective that to accept comments would be a good thing as in the past I have written comments myself on the websites of others, I must admit however that I did take the time to read the post and write a relevant comment.

So to the authors of  software that enable spammers I would ask why not write a program that offers something to the prey in return for the free lunch.

Make it worth my while to allow your spam onto my websites which coincidentally I do own, host, provide content for and annually renew domain names.

This expense is totally borne by me and the spammer for some reason believes that they should have access to the fruit of my expense merely because they purchase scrapebox or some such and a list of blogs from someone on the warrior forum or black hat world, please.

Me, I understand capitalism, I know about money and grocery shopping and I also understand the concept of joint venture. So wise up spammer and give me something before you try to take, at least try using the old bribes of please and thanks.

On a more how should should I put it illuminate note, how do you expect to harvest when you have failed to sow and tend a crop. All those wasted hours spamming 10K blogs for 50 backlinks from innocent fools who approve without moderation.

In the end the winners will always be the visonaries who pioneered a new idea and the scraps will be left for the bottom feeders and spammers.

Here’s a tip, set up a little backlink farm of your own, get a couple of hundred domains, set up blogs, and host on separate ip’s and spam the hell out of yourself.

You links will always be posted and they will be yours alone. I do understand that this method will cost you some money but hey Apple wasn’t built in a day.

Please consider this little post as my way of giving back to the spam merchants even though they have only taken from me.

The world and its mother is intent on making a killing on the internet and the word on the street is that the only truth in relation to keywords is to be found in the Google keyword tool.

The plan is find a hot keyword that has little competition put up a website or blog and dominate the niche.

So, well so,

A hot keyword with little competition is an oxymoron or put another way a contradiction.

Google’s keyword tool is designed with Adword advertisers in mind so when the average web Joe uses it to access keywords he/she should bear this in mind. Google is not in the business of helping webmasters access competition, rather they are in the business of making money from advertisers who are willing to pay for the privilege of being first on Google results fro a given search term.

The term Locksmith Indianapolis according to Google’s Keyword tool gets 590 exact global monthly searches with an estimated cost per click of $17.07.

However if you add an “s” to locksmith the term Locksmiths Indianapolis according to G’s wonder tool gets 140 exact monthly searches and a cost per click of $0 .05. Yes Google is a charity and is actually giving away first page places for 5 cents.

Now here’s the thing if I as a web surfer find myself in need of the services of a locksmith my search term would most likely be Locksmiths Indianapolis bedause I want a list of available locksmiths form whom I can choose.

However if I am a locksmith in Indianapolis advertising on Adwords my keyword would be Locksmith Indianapolis because I am no interested in plural because in the locksmith world plural means competition.

The surfer/searcher wants competition, the advertiser wants plural.

So if you find yourself building a web presence using Google’s keyword tool to chose keywords then you should proceed with caution and ask yourself which keyword would my customer use and not which keyword would I like them to use.

There has been a lot of action is the made for adsense website/blog world. IT seems that the plan is to find a hidden niche with keyword that gets like 3000 exact monthly searches and a tasty cost per click.

The formula appears to be “searches x cpc x.005″ now if the answer turns out to be 50 then you have found a nugget.

So you find a keyword that gets 3000 searches per month with a cpc of $5 and using the magic formula you get 75 so this keyword is a go.

The next step is to go to Go Daddy and get a domain name with the keyword in . However because half the known universe is now playing the adsense game your chances of (a) finding a hidden niche are slim and (b) you will not find a dot com, net or org for any keyword that Google’s keyword tool shows 1000 searches for with a decent cpc.

The truth of the adsense model is however a little sobering.

Lets assume that you have a dot net for a 3000 search keyword with a $10 cpc.

To get any revenue you will need to be on the first page of Google serp for your keyword.

To make decent money you will need to be in the top 3 results.

If you are in position 3 you may get 1000 page impressions a month. Of this you may have a click through rate of 5% if you are lucky. Now the 3000 searches form Google have been reduced to 50 clicks per month.

The next slap in the face for the love struck adsense publisher is that Google is only going to pay you $1 from the $10 click.

But this is really great because you will be making $50 per month from a mini site that you just built and forgot.

The straw that breaks the camels back is the low competition clause. The guru tells you that you need to find high search niches with low competition. Remember this if you remember nothing else. While you are striving to make money form high search low competition keywords the guru is making money selling adsense courses.

There is no such thing as a high search low competition keyword. That is like saying you should look for a beautiful girl that everyone thinks is ugly.

Most made for adsense websites make less than a buck a month because they are adrift in an ocean of web garbage somewhere on page infinity of googles results for the keyword that they are chasing.

f you can get a website onto G’s first page with 5 or 6 Ezine articles than you will find that there is no one searching for the keyword and Google is paying cents per click.

In internet terms backlinks = money. If you want to make money online forget everything that the guru is saying and become a backlink whore.

Buy backllinks, trade for backlinks, spam for backlinks, offer sex for backlinks, do what you need to do to get a gazillion backlinks pointing to your website and you will become internet wealthy.

Being the sage that I appear to be, I am betting that there will soon be no shortage of long tail keyword domain names when the giddy would be adsense millionaires realize that there is little to be made playing this card.

A further look at Google’s inconsistency:

“buy a home with bad credit”, 720 exact global monthly searches, $3.84 cost per click

“buy a house with bad credit”, 1000 exact global monthly searches, $53.07 cost per click

“buying a home with bad credit”, 1300 exact global monthly searches, $55.08 cost per click

Merely going from buy to buying or house to home according to Google knocks off $50 per click.

However the light at the end of the tunnel is that a keyword domain in dot com version can be picked up by a person who is willing to look between the lines in Google’s numbers.

The dot com version of buy a home with bad credit was recently purchased for registration fee and the only reason it was available was because Google’s keyword tool says it is crap.

Go figure!

What is Google’s First Page

It really is amazing how much we know but how little we understand in a deep meaningful way. We give lip service to the correct way but then proceed to do what we want and then wonder why nothing is working out for us like we believe it should. It is like the Einstein quote about insanity. The definition of insanity is to keep on doing the same things and expect different results.

For every 10,000 people who are struggling to make a few cents a day online there is someone sitting in a basement using the same resources making over $1K a day.

Why is this, why is life so unfair, why do so many work so hard and still struggle while the chosen few find it so easy to make megabucks.

The answer is simple, the chosen few, the successful people (a) are not insane in that they realize that if they want something different that they must do something different and (b) they have an uncanny ability to pay more than lip service to what they know to be true.

In short they do not do what they want merely because they want to, knowing that it is not the optimum. They do not give lip service to knowledge and then forget to know what they know so that they can continue doing what they want.

Google and Keywords

If there are 1 billion keywords then there are 1 billion Google first pages. If there are 1 trillion keywords then there are 1 trillion Google first pages.

Google’s first page is merely a list of the 10 most relevant web pages in Google’s estimation for a search term.

To be included in this top 10 is really simple but yet so hard. This apparent oxymoron is the reason most people fail to make any real money online.

It is so simple because the route is defined, it is so hard because very few want to believe the evidence in front of their eyes.

The Road Map to Google’s First Page

Google’s first page results as previously mentioned is a list of web pages that Google believes are most relevant to a given search term.

A search term is a word or phrase typed into a search bar.

Is Your Web Page Indexed

Google search is a combination of a massive computer in which literally billions of web pages are filed away and a program designed to link these stored web pages to search terms.

Having your web page filed in Google’s data base/filing cabinet is referred to as being indexed.

The first requirement for Google first page eligibility is being indexed. If your web site/web page is not indexed then as far as Google search is concerned it does not exist.

On Page SEO

On page SEO (search engine optimization) is the art/science of including keywords into a web page that you would like the page to be considered relevant for in the search engines.

If you want to target traffic for your real estate practice in Chicago then you might have pages that target keywords like Chicago Homes for Sale, Chicago Real Estate, etc.

On page SEO is really helpful in ranking a web page for non competitive keywords, it is a tiny percentage of the ranking pie for competitive keywords.

The Truth about SEO

Google or any search engine ranks indexed web pages for keywords in relation to search terms. Repeat (this is one of the simple stupid facts that failed internet entrepreneurs claim to know but ignore) Google ranks indexed web pages for keywords in relation to search terms.

So if you are interested in attracting target traffic to a website selling homes in Chicago then your key words must reflect the search terms that you believe people interested in Chicago real estate are typing into search bars.

Stupid real estate agents blog, successful real estate agents post carefully crafted articles, optimized for relevant keywords.

Mega successful real estate agents know that Google is a color/image blind, text driven beast that only answers to one master. That master is backlinks whose anchor text is the keyword.

How many back links is this. The answer is that you will have enough back links for a keyword when you are number 1 in the search engine results for that keyword.

What about Content

The question you must ask yourself is: Am I trying to make some money or am I trying to make a nice web site. The two are not synonymous. I can have a nice website up and running using wordpress in less than an hour. It will cost me (a) time, (b) the price of a domain name and (c) hosting, and it will make me zero dollars ever, no matter how long I keep it online.

The reason being that it is the proverbial needle in the haystack.

The internet is like a freeway on Friday evening, it is crammed to overflowing, anyone who wants to make money needs a police escort or a helicopter ride.

A beautiful website with excellent content is merely a vehicle stuck in traffic going nowhere.

What has content got to do with making money if no one knows that you exist. Content is only relevant when you actually have a visitor who is interested in your content.

Google has absolutely no interest in your content other than the keywords that it contains in relation to search terms that are being typed into its search engine.

Duplicate Content

All content is duplicate, Google merely presumes that the most relevant web page for a search term is the one with the most/best backlinks for the related keyword.

Google’s First Page

If you are just starting out try to get a decent domain name with your keywords in it. Chicago Real Estate.com is far better than John Can Sell.com.

Despite it’s apparent irrelevance do have a nice well designed website with the very best content that you can possibly write/buy/get.

Did you know that lake Baikal is the largest lake on the planet, you didn’t, well to be honest up until I did a google search for the largest fresh water lake in the world either did I. I guess it is in Russia so it is most probably a comment spammer.

Anyway this guy that I know who has more money than sense and who just loves to fish for shark decided to buy the best shark fishing gear in the history of earth and seeing as his intended prey was great whites and great whites like to dine on seals he arranged to have a supply of live seal pups shipped via FedEx to his encampment on Lake Baikal in the Russian motherland.

It was really exciting setting out that first morning to get some great whites, casting those seal pups wiggling and screaming into the cool clear waters of Lake Baikal but guess what my bud’s excitement gradually turned to a large dose of pissed off ness. Yeah you’re right all he reeled in was intact seal pup, not a white shark in sight and you know why because great whites live in salt water and my bud was fishing in a place where no self respecting great white would set foot.

The moral of this tale is that it really doesn’t matter how good your website is, or how good your offers or your content or your copy writing is, if you are fishing for shark in fresh water then you are not getting any hits.

My dad used to fish in the river Liffey with a line wrapped around a small piece of wood which he unwinded into the water and man did he catch joeys when they where shoaling, no boat, no rod, whatever was available as bait and he ate good,

This was because he was fishing where the fish where. He had natural organic traffic sniffing around his line.

How to Set Up a WordPress Blog-The Simple Way

• Go to Godaddy and get a domain name.
• Go to HostGator and sign up for a baby croc account this account lets you host as many domain names and blogs as you want with unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disc space for $7.95 per month. There is a Hatchling plan for $4.95 per month but this only allows one domain name. If you are sure you will never need another domain name hosted then go for the Hatchling plan for $4.95.

Now you are ready to start your wordpress install.

• Go to your GoDaddy domain manager and click the box in front of the domain you want to set the blog up on.
• In the top menu that lights up click name servers then set nameservers then I have specific nameservers.
• Into the box that opens up put your HostGator name servers they will be similar to this “ns1677 .hostgator.com and ns1678.hostgator .com”.
• Press OK then OK again.

Next go to your Hostgator cPanel and click add on domains (note this is only for people who have more than one domain name). When you buy your HostGator hosting you will have to give them one domain name as your main domain name. If this is your only domain name and you wish to use this for your blog skip this step and go straight to fantastico.

After you click on add on domains a window will open.

• In the first box place the domain name you wish to add to your HostGator account.
• Skip the Subdomain/Ftp Username box.
• Skip the Document Root box.
• Fill in the password boxes and press add domain.

Go back to the cPanel main page and press the blue smiley face fantastico button.

• In the left hand column of the window that opens press wordpress.
• In the window that opens press New Install.
• From the scroll down box highlight the domain name you wish to use for the blog. It is important that you pick the option that is the domain name only and not the double barrel version (cats.com and not cats.dogs.com) Once again this only applies to hosting that has more than one domain name.
• Leave install in directory blank.
• Administrator is your user name for this account you will need this to log into your blog control panel.
• Password is the password to log into your control panel.
• Admin nickname is the name that will show as the writer of the posts on the blog.
• The email is the email you wish to associate with the blog any email will work.
• Site name is the name of the blog like cat food.
• Description is the words that will appear in the header below the site name like premium cat chow.
• When you are happy with what you have put in the boxes press Install WordPress.
• Then press Finish Installation.
• In the next window put in an email address and press send email. It will send you an email with your new blog control panel details and log in details.

You have just set up your wordpress blog which will come with a few plugins and a few templates or Themes.

You are ready to start blogging but first you should take time to spruce up your new blog with some vital plugins and a wordpress theme that suits your site content.

• A web surfer looking to buy a car with bad credit is only looking for 1 loan so he/she will more than likely use the singular version i.e. loan.
• Yet Google’s keyword tool which is built for advertisers tells that most web surfers use the plural. What do you think?

Twitter seems to be all the rage at the moment but I just wonder if it really is any good as an internet marketing tool. Most of the tweets I see coming from the “tweeters” are blatant affiliate links mostly Clickbank.

I suppose it is a good platform to use for spying or internet marketing espionage, you get to see what your fellow internet marketers are getting up to and exactly what they are trying to sell.

It’s like I write a weight loss blog so I searched for weight loss twitters but mostly every tweet is an affiliate link. There is very little meat and I suppose what do you expect in a 140 character format.

Anyway despite the abundance of weight loss programs and varying diets on the market there really is only one way to lose weight  and man is it painful both emotionally and physically.

Listen up I am about to expose the only weight loss secret known to man: “Watch what you eat, choose healthy fresh foods and get some exercise.” Now there that was really simple.

I suppose like everything else in life weight loss or weight gain is just common sense 2+4=4 kind of stuff.

I wonder is internet marketing governed by the same set of common sense criteria. I mean most people who call themselves internet marketers are making less than minimum wage and why do you think that is.

Could it be that there are only so many people out there looking to buy an eBook on hemorrhoids or genital warts and most internet marketers have no email list and even less traffic and besides if it’s a Clickbank product chances are that one of the big boys already has their cookie wedged firmly into your prospects cache.

Yes it’s true you might spend some money on adsense marketing your favorite Clickbank product only to find that the commission you have paid Google to find goes to someone who has been cookie stuffing.

Then Google decides because your website is spam that (a) you will never smell the first 20 pages of search results and (b) even if it decides to let you use adwords it will charge you a lot.

Just wondering isn’t adwords just another form of spam, I mean who asked Google to put ads onto their search results. It appears that at least from Google’s perspective spam is A OK if they are making a buck from it otherwise it should be handles like a leper with the plague, pig flu and halitosis.

So there you are a diminutive no one sitting out there in your basement in nowhere land blogging from your laptop on the beach sipping strawberry daiquiri’s or so you would have us believe and the truth is that you made $10 on adsense yesterday and that was your best day in weeks and you really think that I should try this great keyword tool that is absolutely certain to net me $10K a month in revenue. But the question is who exactly is going to be buying all the product that is going to get me $10K a month in commissions.

Go Daddy who I find to be a great vendor pays like 20% which means to net $10K a month I need to send GoDaddy like $50K in business, man that’s a whole lot of domain names.

Then getting onto Google first page for anything worthwhile means that you have to have like a gazillion back links. Can you believe that counting back links is the best way that Google the ultimate in computer technology can come up with to rate the relevance of a website for a particular search term, its mind boggling really.

Anyway the sad reality is that Google is really the only game in town and if you want to sip daiquiris on any beach anytime soon then you had better learn to play by their rules.

The more I write the more I believe that spam is the only way to go. I mean it seems to be working on twitter, Google themselves are in the business of selling it and regardless of what you said when you gave your email to get a free report aren’t most of the emails that your get everyday from your favorite guru really just spam.

It’s like everyday when I go out to get the mail, all the crap and no checks. Will someone tell the USPS that at least 1 in 5 letters should have a check? I mean how is a guy supposed to eat let alone pay Hostgator for hosting, and don’t start me on renewing my domain names.

How many domain names do you have, I hope it’s a lot and I hope that they are good otherwise you wont be sipping daiquiris on the deck chair next to me anytime soon.
